2009 Winners
At the end of March 2009, the Empowerment Support Organization announced the winners of the Goldie Anna Awards for Excellence in Education.
This year, we selected four winning clusters of schools, each with their own, unique instructional models of excellence. Our winners span each grade level and encompass a wide range of promising practices.
Part of the award this year was the provision of a 3 day technology academy hosted by Google and The Pearson Foundation. Details of the academy can be found here. Participants spent 3 days involved in learning Google Apps for Education, and the process of creating digital stories. At the end of the academy each group presented their insightful, informative digital stories, which can be seen below.
As the year progresses each school will be involved in creating further examples of digital documentation to highlight the process of implementing each model, the collaborative efforts they have undertaken, and the effects on student learning.

University Neighborhood Middle School enter their second year of participation in the Goldie Anna Awards. As a previous Innovator school, they are now a 2009 Anchor School.
Their winning model of school-wide Book Clubs will be taken in a new, technological direction, using Web 2.0 tools to augment the Book Club process.
