Technology Academy 2009

As part of winning the Goldie Anna Awards for Excellence in Education 2009, all winning Anchor and Innovator schools were invited to attend a 3 day Technology Academy.

2009 was the first year such an academy was offered to our winners, and it was designed to provide participating schools with the necessary tools, resources, and hands-on training to effectively utilize Google Apps for Education and Digital Storytelling techniques as part of the work around the awards.

With the generaous support of Google and The Pearson Foundation's Mobile Learning Institute, we were able to host a productive, informative and content rich training schedule.

April 15 - Our Day at Google

Throughout the day, participants were involved in hands-on activities to help learn the various online applications that are part of the Google Apps for Education Suite. Google's facilities (including their great restaurant and a tour of the building) were our for the whole day, and participants learned Google Docs, Spreadhseets & Forms, GMail & Calendar, and Google Sites.

April 16 & 17 - Our Days at Pearson

During our days at Pearson, participants were charged with creating an informative and engaging Digital Story that would provide a snapshot overview of the instrcutional model for which they won the Goldie Anna award. Participants had to write a script, collect and edit images, record their narration, appear on camera, and edit eveything together into one final product that tells the story of their instructional model
